Junior hockey Training Stockport

Hockey training is provided at Werneth High School for boys and girls from age 7 to 15 years of age.  Players are arranged in small groups, based on age and ability, for effective coaching of skills and techniques.

We only use qualified coaches who have been CRB Checked and we have an excellent training program designed to teach a wide range of hockey skills and techniques. Coaching is suitable for all skill levels, from beginners through to more advanced players.

The junior training is run at Werneth High School on Thursday evenings from 6.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.  We request players turn up on time to ensure the session can commence promptly and that parents if leaving their children return in plenty of time to collect their children from the pitch at 7.00pm.

Junior Hockey Training Werneth U11; U13 and U15 boys and girls teams are entered in the local Greater Manchester Junior League which takes place at the Commonwealth pitch at Belle Vue, Manchester on a number of Sundays from October to March.  Teams are also entered into one-off tournaments which are arranged in the area.
The junior coaching sessions are planned to run in two terms.  Our first term is from September to December and our second term is January to April.
The cost for each term block (approx twelve 1 hour sessions) is £30 and is payable in September and January. A discount of £10 is available for Leisure Key holders per term.  Cheques need to be made payable to Stockport Hockey Club and the child(ren) name(s) clearly written on the back of the cheque.
All players have to complete a Club membership form and these will be made available on line in due course but in the meantime hard copies are available when you turn up to your first session.

Junior Hockey Equipment

Playing equipment such as sticks and balls are provided at each session. Your child will need to provide his/her own playing kit and trainers, including warm clothing (e.g. tracksuit, sweatshirt, jogging pants etc). We strongly recommend players wear shin pads/gum shield, bring a drink with them and do not wear jewellery when training or playing.

Stockport Hockey Club take their responsibility to safeguard children and young people seriously and it is important that everyone knows how to report a concern.

Our Club Welfare Officer is Julie Gavin who arrives towards the end of each junior coaching session if you wish to speak with her or you can contact Julie via email julie.gavin@hotmail.com . Unfortunately we do not advertise personal telephone numbers on the website but if you do require Julie’s phone number please ask any of the coaches all of which have Julie’s details.
