15/09/2007 Stockport 2s v Didsbury 4s 2-0

This was the first outing for the 2nd team and although they had a couple of the squad missing, Stockport took to the field (looking very smart) on a sunny day at the Armitage Centre against an experienced Didsbury Northern 4th team.

Stockport took a while to gel, with the defence of Helen and Susan Elcock and Wendy Fort having to work hard. Didsbury, managed a score after a goal mouth scramble and despite some good breakaway attacks led by Emma and Laura Woodhead Stockport were unable to score, so at half time it was 1 – 0 to Didsbury.

In the second half it was end to end stuff, but the midfield of Hannah Williams, Julie Griffiths and Emily Smith combined well together. Jodie Smith on the right wing started to make some excellent breaks and crosses resulting in a goal for Laura Woodhead coming in from the left wing.

As Didsbury began to really press and attack for a winner, Charlotte Dugdale was forced to make some great saves. However in the last 10 minutes, Stockport began to pass the ball around, Wendy Fort then brought the ball out of the circle and made an defence splitting pass to Lucy Rowbotttom, who rounded a defender and scored to make it 2 – 1 to Stockport. Well done to everyone.

Wendy Van Donder (Fort) was player of the match.

Well done everyone we bought home our victory in div 3 against a team that were mid table last season.
