| 23/09/2007 | Stockport 2s v Moss park 2s | 5-4 |
The 2nd match of the season saw the 2nd team, playing Moss Park 2
at Trinty High School in Manchester, this was a team that had come
down from Division 2 and had a number of experienced players.
Stockport fell behind after a couple of quick goals by Moss Park,
but soon the forward line of Michelle Morgan, Jenny Worth, Emma
Woodhead, Amy Nicklin and Jodie Wynne began to combine well,
resulting in three goals before half time.
At half time 2 – 3 to Stockport.
In the 2nd half, Moss Park began to really press but the defence of
Helen Elcock, Adele Lumsden, Wendy Fort and Gemma Cook held solid,
with Adele feeling the force of a Moss Park short corner on her arm.
There was also some brilliant man to man marking by Susan “
superglue” Elcock, which proved frustrating for the Moss Park
forward and some good clearances by Charlotte Dugdale in goal.
Stockport continued to attack and always looked dangerous with the
halves of Emily Smith, Caroline Lumsden, Lucy Rowbottom and Laura
Woodhead working hard down the left and right, there were two more
goals added one for Jenny Worth and one for Sam Piggin. In the dying
minutes there were was a couple of goals for Moss Park, which led to
an anxious few minutes for those of us on the sideline.
Final Score 4 – 5 to Stockport
