| 29/09/2007 | Stockport 2s v Salford Trinity 1s | 5-0 |
Stockport 2nd's third match started on a bright sunny day.
The first half was hard work for both sides and neither side scored, although
both sides were trying very hard to.
The Stockport forwards (Lisa Horbury, Lucy Rowbottom, Laura Woodhead and Sam
Piggin) were thwarted by the Salford keeper's (Becky) excellent saves. However
despite Stockport losing Sally for a few minutes, the first half ended nil -
nil.
Eight minutes into the second half it was Salford's turn to be a man down and
Lisa Horbury took advantage of by scoring the first goal of the game. This
prompted Salford to get their heads back in the game and the midfields
Chloe Egerton, Rachel Dunley, Jodie Wynne, Hannah Williams and Emily Smith
really had to work hard to keep the ball from Stockport's D. After a few
defensive short corners where Salford's attackers were really pushing (without
success) to get the ball past our defence (Sally Fort, Charlotte Dugdale and
Helen Elcock) the game swung round again and Lisa Horbury scored again opening
the floodgates, with Lucy Rowbottom, Lisa Horbury (hat-trick!!) and Sam
Piggin all scoring in the last half of the second half. The played on after the
final whistle with a short corner to Stockport which they were unable to
convert, meaning that the game ended with a hard earned 5 - 0 to Stockport 2nd's
:)
