It all started out as TV’s “what not to wear”

DATE  FIXTURE  RESULT
27/10/2007 Stockport 2s v Didsbury 4s 3-1

It all started out as TV’s “what not to wear” and it was decided that Red was soooooo last season and opted for the blue kit.

The first five minutes Stockport went in all guns blazing and put pressure on Didsbury’s defence, it was looking good.
And then…in the blink of an eye the pressure was returned to a puzzled Stockport who were wondering what the ball was doing in the wrong half!    Confuuuuuuused,Com!!!!

A slightly unsettled Stockport held it together with Wendy, Sally & Helen  at the back picking up balls & players left right and centre.  After many short corners and a “very eager” Wendy to get out to the ball,  it was held together at a lucky 0-0 at half time.

Whilst Didsbury had a chat at half time about why one of the girls had washed her white top with red socks (Amy!!!)  I got stuck into my first half time talk.

It seemed to work on one player in particular as 3 minutes after telling Amy she had 20 mins to score a goal she struck the ball full force into the back of the net.  (will try that tactic more often)

The second half was looking good and by scoring so early, it gave Stockport the confidence that was needed.  With play pushing forward, Hannah & Jodie crossing the ball in and creating chances 20 mins later it was Sam who picked it up and with a strong run slipped the ball into the back of the net.. yeahhhh – come on you blues!!

Stockport were now looking strong but not without comeback from the Disbury forwards making strong passes and without some great saves from Angie they could have caught up. But with the young legs of the Emily, Hannah & Susan coming back to pick up players meant the backs could keep the ball away from the net and switch the play into attack again.

Chloe must have been watching dirty dancing this week and did a Patrick Swayze knee slide up to the net and from a great cross managed to time it right to hit the ball into the back of the net!!

Our eyes were of the ball for a minute for Disbury to make a come back with an unstoppable hit making the final score 3-1.
A fantastic performance from all players who worked well together as a team and a much deserved player of the match for Wendy Van Tonder.  Well done everyone, lets keep it up, we can only get better!!!!!
