| 03/11/2007 | Stockport 2s v Oldham 2s | 1-2 |
Whether it was the away strip or the low afternoon sun, but
Stockport never seemed to get going, apart from the a couple of
shots/scrabbles around the goal by Laura and Jodie. Oldham Ladies
had a couple of starred players and it was obvious which ones they
were, controlling the midfield and making breaks. Andrea
playing her 15th match of the weekend played well, keeping out the
Oldham attack for most of the first half, however towards the end
apparently the ball rolled (?) over the line.
In the 2nd half, there was no excuse for the sun, Susan “ super
glue” Elcock had a go man to man marking the * Oldham player but
even she struggled to keep her under wraps. Oldham
scored a second after the defence failed to clear. However there was
still plenty of time to go and from the restart there was a sudden
burst of energy ….Sam Piggin collected the ball from Laura and ran
at the Oldham defence, it was like the parting of the waves and the
ball hit the back of the net. From then on it was all
Stockport, with Emily Smith taking a battering from lifted balls,
but it was just a touch to late to get one back.
Final Score 1 – 2
