SHC 1's v University of Manchester 3's was a close match that could have gone either way. Both teams played a fast paced, end-to-end game right from the start. The only surprise was that, after 30 minutes, neither team had managed to score. Both teams were too good for it to remain that way and with only a few minutes of the half remaining, Jenny Plant met a cross to put Stockport 1-up. However, he university team replied swiftly to level the score in the final minute of the half.
In the beginning of the second half Stockport continued to play well and were getting more possession with the ball. However it was the University who scored the next goal with some neat interpassing in the circle. Stockport's forwards kept the pressure on the other end and were rewarded with an equaliser from Sam Piggin. At this point the University really picked up the pace and had Stockport on the back foot, and defending a string of penalty corners. despite goalie Angela Fuggle's spectacular efforts in goal, the University eventually found a way past her and to score their third. At that point they tried to hold on to their slender lead for the remaining 10 minutes by trying to keep possession. Fortunately, Stockport still had the speed and fitness to keep going to the end and Jenny Worth's savaged a hard-earned draw with a last minute equaliser.
