| 08/12/2007 | Stockport 1s v Tameside Ladies 1s | 5-1 |
In pouring rain and a bitterly cold wind, Stockport 1's played their All Divs cup match against Tameside in Dukinfield. As Tameside are a division below SHC 1's they immediately started with a 1 goal, so Stockport were effectively chasing the game from the start. Despite the conditions Stockport set out to play a fast-paced game and moved the ball around the pitch. The Tameside defence was kept busy with Stockport on the attack, and the goalie had to make numerous saves. Meanwhile Stockport didn't have it all their own way, as Tameside were able to counter with speed with some good passing through the midfield. Adele Lumsden and Clare Atherton played very well and they always came back to help the defenders and frequently cut out the final pass into the circle.
After 24 minutes Stockport scored from a ball cross from the left side that had the Tameside goalie out of position and Sam Piggin excellently placed to deflect the cross into the back of the net.
The second half was a more dominate performance as Tameside appeared to tire. Midfielder's Chloe Egerton and Charlie Sims hovered at the end of the Tameside and prevented the opposition from clearing the ball out of defence. Under constant pressure the Tameside players tired and second half goals came from Lisa Horbury (1), Amy Nicklin (PC), Charlie Sims (1) and Sam Piggin got her 2nd goal of the match making a total of 5 goals to stockport, who now go through to the next round of the competition.
