This was a crucial match

12/01/2008 Stockport 2s v Moss Park 2s 2-0

This was a crucial match, as Moss Park are just above in the league, so a must win game if we were to keep the pressure on a promotion place. After a stressful 5 minutes prior to the match, with lost sticks, a very late goalie and loo breaks, Stockport actually started the match with 10 players. It was a tight first half end to end with Stockport on the attack but unable to finish. There was good work from Emma Woodhead and Jodie Wynee down the wings and Sam Piggin through the middle with some great passing. Hannah Williams, Emily Smith and Dunners in midfield passed the ball well.

In the 2nd half, Stockport pressed Moss Park and their defence crumbled under the attack! With Julie coming on for Dunners in the centre of midfield, and Charlotte Wilkinson realising she was playing as a forward player, Stockport spread the play opening up space for the midfield to get the ball to the forwards.

After a bit of a scramble around the goal mouth, Jodie scored but owned up to putting it in with her foot, within five minutes Emma Woodhead had scored from a shot on the edge of the circle. The supporters on the side cheered on Stockport for a 2nd, with Robert Preston leading the cheers… and they weren’t disappointed with Emily Smith scoring from a great cross from Sam on the right.

Despite some pressure in the last 10 minutes, the defence, of Adele, Sally and Helen held fast and Duggie controlled the goal mouth.  A great win…
