| 26/01/2008 | Stockport 5s v Heaton 1s | 1-4 |
Stockport started strong against Heaton but it was Heaton who took an early lead from a strong shot from the top of the D, wrong footing the goalkeeper and finding the back of the net. The 5ths kept Heaton on their toes and Susan Elcock's close marking of Heaton's centre forward closed down a lot of their attacking play. Shots were fired in and goalkeeper Andrea Boulton was on form making saves from play into the D as well as from short corners. Natasha Getcheffsky kept Heaton out of the D with channelling play wide and saved a bullet fired shot on the goal line.
Kelly Shore was getting stuck in and making the effort to be first to the ball but was repaid with a hit to the foot which required attention off the pitch leaving the Stockport team with 10 players. Ceire McNamee was putting the Heaton defence under pressure much to their delight - not! Leah Perkins debut game for Stockport was one to remember with a fine goal scored equalising the score to 1-1.
The goal shocked Heaton into action and 2 more goals soon followed from one from a slip shot and an unfortunate own goal from a short corner that Ms Elcock decided to place in the back of her own goal - excellent shot though at the wrong end of the pitch ;-) Half time score 1-3 in Heaton's favour.
The 2nd half of the game was a much more even sided game and Heaton's frustration was showing through some careless shots going wide of goal and most shots fired straight at the keeper so the defence were able to save.
Rachel Owen, Abi Saunders and Sally McRoberts linked up well in mid field and worked hard to keep the pressure on Heaton's defence, feeding the ball into the D and the forwards unlucky not to score.
Heaton scored one more soft goal making the final score 4-1. Player of the match was Natasha Getcheffsky.
