| 04/02/2008 | Stockport 2s v Oldham 2s | 4-0 |
Sunday saw the 1st & 2nd ‘s playing Oldham 1st & 2nd respectively
at home and away, the 2nd ‘s had something to live up to after the
early morning win by the 1st in the all division cup, whether it was
that or the bitter wind blowing in across the Falisworth pitch but
Stockport were out of the blocks from the start with attacks being
spear headed by Laura, Sam and Emma. When Oldham did venture over
the 22 yard line it was easily cleared by Wendy, Adele and Lucy Cook
to the midfield of Lucy, Julie and Jenny Plant. Despite some early
chances we were just unable to make the final ball count. However,
after about 20 minutes a break came with Lucy at right midfield
playing the ball down the wing to Sam, who crossed to Laura at the
top of the circle who then played a quick ball to Jodie on the left
hand post who made it 0 – 1 to Stockport. The next goal was a
cracker (as much as it pains me to say almost Ronaldo like!), Emma
Woodhead picked the ball up in our 22, after a Oldham attack broke
down, she then drove through the Oldham midfield, passed the ball
out to Sam out wide, who again passed to Laura who was positioned at
the top of the circle, Laura then played a short pass to Emma who
had carried on with her run and she hit the back board with a first
time shot, much to the delight of the frozen Stockport spectators -
0 – 2 Stockport.
After a quick turn around at half time, Stockport were again on the
attack this time Sam on the right was put clean through after a neat
pass from the midfield, with the only the GK to beat the Oldham
goalie came out and slide tackled her legs from under her, a flick!
Sam took with it with some style (which the supporters missed as
they were thawing out inside!) 0 – 3 Stockport. Despite Oldham
putting on some of their big guns our midfield, made some hard
fought tackles and with Wendy, Adele and Lucy really supporting each
other and despite a few late penalty corners Oldham just couldn’t
break Stockport down. In the last 5 minutes, after some good work
from Jenny Plant, spreading the ball across the pitch to Laura who
had a shot on goal saved, but with Sam followed up it was an easy
tap in to make the final score 0 – 4 to Stockport. Well played
everyone!
Thanks to Louise for umpiring!
