A sunny Saturday Morning !

Stockport started the game well from the start, despite a couple of players playing out of their normal position, but we passed the ball well and with Jenny “longs legs” Worth running all over the pitch and Adele, Emily and Julie working really hard in midfield and Lucy and Clare combining well upfront. After 15 minutes, Stockport scored a deserved goal, Adele hit a beautiful free hit from the right which went across the circle to Jenny Plant on the left, who was unmarked and slotted the ball home.

Fearns had a couple of quick players on both wings and they made some darting runs but with the experienced back three of Wendy, Helen and Sally cleared a lot of the play back up to the midfield. Soon it was 2 – 0 to Stockport almost exactly scenario, a cross from the right by Jenny Long Legs to Jenny Plant again on the left who had kept up with play and was again unmarked and but the ball in the net.

Fearns then had a series of short corners, which ended up with Wendy getting a green card for clattering into the ball receiver but there was little she could have done to avoid it as the Fearns player was cleverly using her body. But despite them having all the short corners they couldn’t convert them past the defence and Duggie!

In the 2nd half, Fearns became increasingly frustrated (with some quite fruitful language!) and despite having a couple of “one on one”, they couldn’t get pass Duggie in goal. Clare made some great runs, often just pushing the ball past the defender and was unlucky not to score. Mid way through the 2nd half Stockport got a well deserved third goal, by who else Jenny Plant from a nice cross from Adele.
