Plenty of chances for both teams

DATE  FIXTURE  RESULT
23/02/2008 Stockport 4s v Stockport 3s 4-1

The game started well with plenty of chances for both teams to take the lead but at half time none had been converted and the score was 0 -0.  In the second half the 3rd team started the stronger and within 5 minutes of the restart the young forwards caught the older legs of the 4th team out and Kelly Shore made it  1 – 0.  Stunned by the quick start the 4th team suddenly sprang into  action and worked a number of moves mainly down the middle, where the ball was picked up by Viv Hudson, her cross was fired past Andrea by Justina Maddock to make the score 1 – 1, game on!

More end to end play ensued and another attack from the 4th team resulted in a penalty corner.  Viv Hudson played the ball to Debbie Mole whose shot was well saved by Andrea.  In the scramble that followed Andrea, who thought at one point Hilary was one of her own players and was telling her to move out of her way, ended  up on the floor.  Having made it back to her feet she was unable to withstand  the duffing up and Hilary slotted the ball into the back of the goal.  Hope your bruise goes down soon Andrea!

The 3rd team came back again with some good play by Beks Evans and Kelly Shore. Ceire McManee had a number of changes but was unable to convert any of them.

It was an excellent game as both teams are well matched. Two more goals from Viv Hudson and Nat Sutherland made it 4 – 1, a score line that didn’t really reflect how close the game actually was.  Well done everyone.

Player of the match for the 3rd team was Kelly Shore
