Couldn’t quite convert the goal

DATE  FIXTURE  RESULT
24/02/2008 Stockport 3s v Tameside 1s 0-7

The 3rd’s were drawn in the plate competition against Tameside who are lingering at the top of the 3rd Division so this was always going to be a difficult game for the 4th Division 3rd team.  Tameside set a fast pace to the game and Stockport did well to keep up especially their defence who were under constant attack.  Kerry Roberts, Kelsey Redwood and Emma Richards played especially well with some excellent hockey skills and that all needed hard hit to clear the ball.

When Becks Evans and Claire Lumsden were able to pick up the clearances Tameside were well organised to break down Stockport’s attack and a counter attack followed.  Tameside were not slow in making Stockport pay for some defensive errors scoring in quick succession from close range.  Goalkeeper Andrea Boulton had her work cut out making some important saves but not enough to keep Stockport in the game L

Helen Elcock played out of position up front which was novel for Helen and made some great runs down the left wing linking up where she could with Kelly Shore.  Becks Evans had the best chance in the game with a one on one with the goalkeeper but couldn’t quite convert the goal.

Although the 3rds lost 7-0 this was a respectable result given each teams position within their respective divisions so well done to all that played!

Andrea Boulton was given player of the match by Tameside.
