A fast paced open game

As the season reaches its climax, Stockport 1’s are in a strong position to get a promotion place, and if we win our final 3 games we will be top of Division 2. This weekend’s win cemented our position.

Both teams play a fast paced open game, and right from the start it was end-to end stuff. The difference between the teams was Stockport’s clinical finishing in front of goal. Amy Nicklin got the first when she hit Jenny Worth’s cross first time and gave the keeper no chance. The second was a free hit fired in from the left, and this time it as Lisa Horbury on the spot to score. The third was a short corner that had the opposition bamboozled as it went to Lucy outside the circle, then to Lisa, then to Amy who passed back to Lisa to score. Lisa got her hat-trick just before half time and Stockport cruised home after that. Moss Park tried to get something out of the game, but in vein as Angela, Gemma, Louise, Lisa Dalby and Ceri kept them out, and Clare and Beanie worked hard up the wings to support the forwards. Stockport’s 5th and final goal came from Amy’s solo strike on a short corner.
