Bolton suddenly woke up

DATE  FIXTURE  RESULT
08/03/2008 Stockport 4s v Bolton 3s 4-6

A win for the 4th s today would have capped a great season but alas it wasn’t to be.  Bolton having kept us waiting for 15 minutes started quicker which wasn’t a surprise considering we were all freezing having waited!  No we don’t warm up, we wouldn’t be fit to play if we did!

It was 15 minutes before the deadlock was broken with Bolton scoring against the run of play.  Stockport continued to press but unfortunately went 2 – 0 down just before the break.  Yet again Stockport came out fighting after and a dreadful mistake from the Bolton fullback saw the ball intercepted by Viv Hudson, her quick thinking found Debbie Mole on her own in Bolton’s circle and she wasn’t going to miss from point blank range, 2-1.  Stockport found a second wind and began to get on top of Bolton, some slick play from the central players found Nat Sutherland who lobbed the ball over the keeper to score a superb goal.

Bolton suddenly woke up and with some well drilled passing moves calved the Stockport defence apart, they looked a different team and were soon 5 -2 up from nowhere.  Justina Maddock continued her run of goal scoring and closed the gap to 5 – 3 but following a torrential down pour and an onslaught from the home team, they made the game safe at 6 -3 with only few minutes remaining.  It was a great performance from Stockport who at times looked by far the better team.  Justina added another to her tally to make the final score 6 -4.

Well done to everyone who has played for the 4th team this season, finishing 4th in the division is a great achievement. Bit of a turn up I think.

Congrats to everyone.
