A Tough Rematch

DATE  FIXTURE  RESULT
27/09/2008 Stockport 3s v Stockport 4s 4-0

Play opened with the 3s struggling to make head way through the SHC 4s with plenty of possession but few scoring opportunities as the 4s defence was solid. Things looked shaky for a while with the first short corner going to the 4s. After much perseverance our first goal finally came with Caroline Lumsden putting the ball away after a scramble in the D. After some substitutions by the 4s the outlook looked even more dismal and the chances of scoring went down and down. The 4s come back at us and we closed the first half with the 4s making some concerted efforts to even the score line. The match was looking quite shaky.

With two players leaving at half time we we reduced to a 12 man squad but despite this and the heat the work rate went up. Finally things started to go our way and after some intense battles in the D with Caroline and Claire Lumsden, Nats Sutherland and Leah Perkins putting the pressure on in the D and picking up every rebound the goals started to go in. The midfield players Laura Murphy, Emma Woodhead and Susan Elcock curt-tailed most of the 4s incursions and things we on the up. The final goal came to Claire and the game finished 4-0 to the 3s.

Player of the match for 4s was Chloe Whythers who seemed to be all over the pitch and made a stunning save on the back line

Player of the match for 3s - Leah Perkins
