In Action At Home

The Stockport Hockey teams were all in action at home this weekend with the 1st team playing Manto Ladies.  A quick opening goal came in the first 2 minutes from Lisa Horbury following a great run by Jenny Worth down the left wing.  Manto never really got into their stride as Stockport applied pressure and played some great passing game throughout the match and when Manto did make the break Gemma Cook held firm in defence.  It was 2-0 at half time with a goal from Amy Nicklin.  It took 15 minutes in the 2nd half before a reverse stick shot from Amy Nicklin found the back of the net and player of the match Jenny Worth closed the scoring with a clean shot from the top of the circle.  Final score Stockport 1st 4 Manto Ladies 0.

The 3rds came up against the 4ths again in their inter-division match.  The 3rds held off the 4ths with great defensive work from Rachel Owens but 10 minutes before half time Claire Lumsden on the far post opened up the scoring 1-0 at half time.  Chloe Withers worked hard in midfield and found Christina Bates free up front but just lacked a strong finish to get on the scoresheet for the 4ths.  The 3rd team found their stride in the 2nd half and there were goals from Claire Lumsden and Natalie Sutherland (2) making the final score 0-4.  In the final game Stockport's 5th team won 3-0 against Didsbury Northern 6ths.
