Awesome hockey

The match opened with a somewhat depleted defence, with the 3rds only fielding 2 not their usual 3 defenders. Manchester University 5s were quick to take advantage and  took the lead early on. Undeterred the halves and forwards kept the pressure on. The next goal came to Stockport from a short corner as Susan Elcock picked up the rebound from a shot in my her mom, Helen Elcock, a true family effort. The defence was strengthened by the addition of Kerry Roberts and game play swung back round in Stockports favour. The 3rds took the lead just before half time with a goal from Becks Evans

In the second half Stockport had their act sorted out and fielding 2 defenders and a sweeper managed to hold back most of the Man Uni attacks opening up the field for the forwards. The pressure on Man Uni  was intense and following a number of short corners Stockport managed to put two more away. The university managed to seek another in but then the best goal of the game came as the ball was released from defence, to Susan Elcock who lined it to Laura Woodhead, Laura and Sam Piggin then worked it passed Man Unis defence and Sam put it away from top D to score a hat trick. Awesome hockey.
