From the first whistle Stockport were on the attack

02/11/2008 Stockport 5s v Didsbury Greys 3rds 3-0

Having lost at home against Didsbury Greys 3rd team 3-0 in a game we should have won, we were desperate to try and reverse the result.

Stockport started well and from the first whistle were on the attack resulting in an early corner.  Taken by Hilary the ball was pushed out to Debbie Mole whose first time shot produced  music to our ears, the sound of a ball hitting the backboard!   Didsbury fought back well but were kept out with some great defending from Bernadette, Marion, Adele, Helen  and some great keeping from Andrea,  1-0 at half time.

In the 2nd half Stockport settled down and worked as a unit passing the ball around well, Emma Woodhead picked up a clearance in her own half and after taking on and beating a couple of defenders she released an excellent ball through the middle finding none other than Debbie Mole. Carrying the ball into the circle she unleashed another cracking shot which flew past the keeper 2-0, she’s back!

Didsbury again tried to get back on terms but a goal line clearance from Janet Woodhead made sure that Stockport kept a clean sheet.

Midway through the 2nd half job completed.  Didsbury conceded another short corner under the pressure, Julie Gavin took the corner and again it was Debbie who received the ball, her first time shot found the back of the goal giving Debbie her hat-trick and Stockport a 3-0 victory.

Thanks to Kim, Romana, Kelly, Helen, Emma, Beth and Andrea who stepped in to the team after we lost 7 of the team to illness and holidays.

Well played to everyone an excellent result.

P o M – Emma Woodhead
