| 08/11/2008 | Stockport 3s v Didsbury Northern 5s | 2-1 |
Stockport 3s opened on the offensive and drove the play straight at Didsbury Northern 5s. The first goal soon game as Becks Evans passed the ball into the D where it was received by Sam Piggin and played off to Caroline Lumsdon who put it neatly in the back of the net. The first half closed 1-0 up to Stockport.
With two trainee umpires the umpiring wasn't as strong as it might be and play occasionally degenerated to a mixture of football and kendo. In a short corner to Dids the Stockport line man, Helen Elcock was struck across the face with a stick, thank goodness for the new face mask or we would be looking for new teeth. Stockport fought on and it wasn't long before another goal was put away by Sam. Didsbury came back and an unlucky goal went in as it rolled slowly under the keeper, Claire Atherton's foot. The play got quite fraught but Stockport held onto the lead.
I would like to thank Claire who did a brilliant job in goal having being called in at the last minute.
Player of the match : Susan Elcock :)
