| 15/11/2008 | Stockport 3s v Stockport 5s | 4-1 |
The match opened with 3rds in disarray as half the team had not got the message about pushback being 1/2 hour early. The 5s soon took advantage as a cross found Julie Gavin on the line behind Andrea who just tapped it into the goal. The 5ths were in the lead! However, towards the end of the 1st half the 3s found their shape but despite a lot of possession in the attacking D the 1st half closed 1-0 to the 5s
The 2nd half saw a much better side of the 3s with players knowing where they
were and playing good team hockey.
It was not long before the equaliser came with a lovely reverse stick lifted
flick from Natalie Sutherland. Play was now on the offensive with most balls
being cut out by the halves Leah Perkins, Beth Sangster, Laura Murphy and Susan
Elcock.
The 3rds nearly went up another from a short corner where Helen Elcock fed the ball back to Claire Lumsdon who played it top D for the strike which neatly bounced of Caroline Lumsdon's foot and found the net. Caroline owned up and play resumed, but it was not long before the same tactic paid off for real as a ball to Claire, was passed top D to Nats who neatly placed it in the left corner of the net. The short corners kept coming and the final goal again from a short corner which was a hit to Nats who crossed to Caroline who put it away. The game ended 4-1 to SHC3
