Always going to be a difficult game

DATE  FIXTURE  RESULT
15/11/2008 Stockport 5s v Stockport 3s 1-4

This was always going to be a difficult game as the 3rds were looking to improve on previously disappointing results, so with  the 5th team adopting a new formation (watching too much strictly I think!) battle commenced.   The 1st quarter saw some end to end play but it was the 5th team who started more confidently. Nikki Barker played well as a sweeper linking well with Kim Lumsden in the centre, and after 20 minutes it paid off with a goal from  Julie Gavin, her 1st of the season.   Some great play by the 5th’s defence and keeper Jeanne Woolston took them to half time in the lead.

The 2nd half  saw a more organised 3rd team emerge and it was game on.  Unfortunately for the 5th team it went the same way as last week and although we put on a great performance the result didn’t favour us and having lead for three quarters of the game we lost 4 -1.  A result that definitely didn’t reflect how evenly matched both teams were.

Well done to Jeanne, Barbara, Berni, Adele, Nikki, Kim, Katie, Di, Justina, Debbie, Viv, Romana and Julie a great performance.

Player of the match:  Julie Gavin.
