Game of two halves

After much debating and de-icing of the goal mouth the game opened and Stockport we're immediately under pressure. It was a matter of only 1 minute before Glossop 1s scored their first. Stockport tightened their defence making Glossop work for every pass and keeper Claire Atherton put in some brilliant saves and Stockport held Glossop at bay for 15 minutes before they managed to get there 2nd goal to bring the game level. The game was now end to end with both teams attacking. However it was not going to go Stockport's way for long as Maureen subbed off after being hit in the face as an attacker followed thru a jab tackle and unfortunately the stick deflected upwards. Leah stepped in as a right back and the game resumed. A few minutes from the end of the first half Stockport scored, drawing level, when Claire worked the ball around the defence and passed it to Emma Richards, who pounced on it and put it away. The first half ended 3-3.

In the 2nd half Stockport were put under intense pressure and with Mo missing off the back line it was not long before the flood gates opened. 12 minutes in Glossop went into the lead and then the attack was relentless and 2 minutes after that they scored gain. A save off the back line where the ball hit the defenders arm resulted in a penalty which was converted. After that Glossop rallied and despite Stockport best efforts we struggled to get back in the game. A flurry of goals for Glossop followed at the game ended 10-3 to Glossop.
