Hat-Trick for Debbie

With a full squad of 14 3s players we headed out to a very early morning game at Belle Vue.

The game was fast paced from the start and five minutes in we saw Stockport go one up when Caroline Lumsdon got on the end of a cross and found the back of the net. This was the first in a series of play that saw Stockport looking a lot more aggressive in the D. The play swung round a number of times and eventually Greys managed to break past Susan Elcock standing in as sweeper. Following a bit of a defensive muddle Greys found the back on the net to go 1-1. Stockport turned it round and with Nat Sutherland / Debbie Mole's unusual subs rota of 10 mins /10 min /7 mins / 7 mins Greys never really got the measure of the forward line as it changed so frequently. A few minutes from end of the first half saw a brilliant first goal from Debbie as she received the ball top D turned and scored making it 2-1 at half time

Play opened with the defence trying to settle in to a new formation. Greys were quick to take advantage and 6 minutes in bought it back level. However with Stockport now having a strong attacking line the advantage did not last long. Stockport certainly made their presence felt in the D with Claire feeding balls in from the right, Becks being quick to pick up any balls that tried to stray away and Caroline and Emma working the left Greys defence did not know where to go. It was not long before a short corner was converted by Debbie drilling the ball into the back of the net, to take SHC3s back into the lead. Two goals in quick succession from Nat's saw the lead consolidated and a final hat trick goal from Debbie 3 minutes from the end saw the game end 6-2 to Stockport.
