Arguably the best organised opposition we’ve faced all season

Looking at positions in the table before the match, this looked like one Stockport might have a good chance of winning. Unfortunately, the team Urmston put out proved to be arguably the best organised we’ve faced all season. The onslaught from Urmston started almost immediately, and although Stockport managed to resist for a while it was only a question of time. At times it felt like we were stuck in a Groundhog Day of short-corners and Urmston converted two and got another goal from open play before the half-time break. Stockport’s midfield held their own for a period in the second-half, but the few attacking opportunities we had ran into a wall of defence. Despite conceding a further four goals in the half, Stockport battled to the end and every player gave a 100% effort.
