| 19/09/2009 | Stockport 5s v Didsbury Northern Ladies 5 | 0-4 |
Last week was one to forget, having lost 10 - 0. With players
still on holiday and players out of position we never managed to get
going. This week we were out to make amends in the return fixture
against Didsbury Northern 5th.
The game started well and after 20 minutes with the score still at 0
– 0, this was already a vast improvement on last week. It was end
to end stuff with Stockport playing some good hockey but
unfortunately they didn’t convert any of the chances they had, Mea
La Belle playing well in only her 2nd game for Stockport. Some good
defensive play by Sharon Bostandji and keeper Jeanne Woolston meant
that by half time Didsbury were only 1- 0 up, a score line that we
were ecstatic about as this was a much improved performance.
Again Stockport started well and again they failed to convert
chances, some good passing play by Mea, Fiona Holland, Viv Hudson
and Nicola Reeves was broken down by a strong Didsbury defence, and
it wasn’t long before they had bagged 2 more goals making it 3 – 0.
In the closing minutes of the match and after a number of attempted
clearances by the Stockport defence, Hilary Clamp placed a great
little flick in the right corner of the goal....... unfortunately it
was the wrong goal, sorry girls!! Final score 4 – 0.
A much better performance all round and a confidence boast following
a heavy defeat last week, well done girls.
Let’s have a win next week.
