Stockport 1s v CoM
Top of Division 2 table clash between City of Manchester 1s and Stockport 1s had a first half of extended periods of high-quality, fast-flowing attacking hockey from both teams countered by robust, intelligent defence. CoM were a touch lucky when about 10 minutes in, the ball bounced so oddly that neither attacker nor keeper were able to connect and it continued bobbling agonisingly towards goal. Stockport’s play was rewarded towards the end of the half when Lisa Horbury connected just enough to loop the ball over the keeper to make it 1-1 at half-time.
In the 2nd half it was CoM who made much better use of the counter attack, with a clear change of strategy resulting in three more goals Stockport 1s losing 4-1.
Stockport 2s v Tameside
Stockport 2s took on Tameside at home and within 5 minutes of the game took the lead through great midfield work from Laura Murphy. Tameside pulled one back just before half time making it 1-1 as the teams entered the second half.
Sam Piggin scored 2 goals in the second half and with another goal from Lisa Horbury Stockport took Tameside by storm but they managed to score a consolation goal at the end making the final winning score for Stockport 4-2.
Stockport 3s took on Rochdale
Stockport 3s took on Rochdale and it took 20 minutes before the Rochdale defence were broken down with Stockport taking the lead through an open play goal from Debbie Mole.
The second half Christina Bates determination paid off with a goal on the far post and a final goal from Claire Lumsden made it a 3-0 win for Stockport 3s.
Stockport 4s took on Moss Park 2
The young 4th team were in fine form on Saturday against Moss Park 2nds and gained their first point with a 1-1 draw at home. After going 1-0 down in the first half, 15 year old Chloe Withers hammered in the goal from a penalty corner early in the second half and then the defence out played the Moss Park attack to take the point.
Stockport 5s took on Westleigh
Stockport 5s came back from being 3-0 at half time against Westleigh to gain a point, goals from Mea Le Belle, Hilary Clamp and Julie Gavin made it 3-3 at full time.
