We battle every week

Stockport 5th’s took on an Urmstom team containing a couple of ‘starred’ players who made all the difference to their performance, it wasn’t long before the Urmston forwards cut through the Stockport defence with great ease and scored two quick goals.  The half saw good periods of attacking play and creative passing moves from both sides, with both defences dealing with the majority of the chances made.  Unfortunately a good save from keeper Jeanne Woolston resulted in the ball lodging under her pad and Urmston made it 3 – 0 from the resulting penalty flick. 25 minutes into the game and finally Stockport got it together up from.  After a goalmouth scramble and shots from Viv Hudson and Mea La Belle, Justina Maddock finally put the ball across the line.  Another goal from Urmston made it 4 -1 at half time.

For a 3rd week running the second half saw a better performance from Stockport and we managed to keep the score line respectable for another 20 minutes.  Urmston were awarded a short corner which they converted and suddenly we were looking defeated. One thing we don’t lack is spirit and having lifted our heads we again went on the attack and were awarded with a short corner, Viv Hudson played the ball out to Hilary Clamp whose shot was saved by the keeper but there in her new position to poach her first goal of the  season was Adele White, well done Adele.  Urmstom scored one more to make the final score 6-2. 

Another defeat but we battle every week, hopefully our reward will be a well deserved victory soon.
